This webinar presentation will provide highlights of an upcoming reportr produced by a working group of the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA). The report is structured based on a safe system approach and therefore countermeasures involve the driver, the pedestrian, road design, vehicle safety standards as well as the recurring theme of speed reduction. Pedestrian human trauma is a major problem in Canada despite the fact that there are many highly effective yet under-utilized countermeasures, many of which are low cost, to address the problem.
