iWalk - International Walk to School Week

International Walk to School Week gives children, parents, school teachers and community leaders an opportunity to be part of a global event as they celebrate the many benefits of walking. In 2008, millions of walkers from around the world walked to school together for various reasons – all hoping to create communities that are safe places to walk.

HASTE and DASH BC, along with our partners, invite your school to REGISTER for International Walk to School Week October 5 – 9, 2009. Schools across BC will be take part in International Walk to School Week (iWalk), to promote and celebrate the many benefits of walking. iWalk activities are different in every school and community. Some walks promote safety, some promote healthier habits and some conserve the environment. Whatever the reason, International Walk to School Week events encourage a more walkable world – one school and community at a time.

Schools that register before Friday, September 18th, 2009 will receive a package with resources, information and incentives for planning an iWalk event.
